Luca grew up at La Faula. He & Paul established first
a ‘frasca’ where their neighbours could stop at the cellar door and enjoy a glass of wine, or two! In 1999 they renovated the house and some farm buildings.

Italian Farmhouse
to keep an old Italian farmhouse, much as it was, so that a piece of old Italy can be enjoyed even as the world has moved on.
to cook home food so that sitting down for a freshly cooked dinner is like dining-in in an Italian farmhouse in times when the family sat down to enjoy the fruits of the land together.
to curate the Italian garden to give pleasure to the eye and repose amongst the plants.
to tend the vegetable garden to bring forth a fresh bounty for the table.
to provide a cooling swimming pool and the friendship of border collie dogs to reanimate body and soul.
ACCOMMODATION
La Faula has available Twin Bedrooms, Double Bedrooms, Triple Rooms, Family Suite e Bungalow. Some rooms can be used as adult (16+ years) Family Suites with two adjoined bedrooms and lockable entrance door
KITCHEN
La Faula are treated equally, whether the Agriturismo is open or not, whether the guests are are family, friends or people staying in the house as customers. The dinners are cooked fresh every day from ingredients grown on the farm or sourced locally. Paul choses each night’s menu and dinner is served at 7.30 p.m. sharp. We just had a wonderful five days staying at the beautiful La Faula,
I don’t normally write reviews but it was such a fantastic experience staying on Luca and Paul’s farm I thought I’d share our experience!
A beautiful location away from the hustle and bustle of city life and big tourism.
This place is a haven - recently changing to taking guests over 16 year old only means you’re guaranteed the best experience, tranquility and nature.
We had great home cooked three course evening meals made often with local produce including their own eggs from some very happy chickens wandering about. Delightful breakfasts were simply prepared and most meals were served outside where you can socialise with other guests or not, whatever you wish!
The outside space is charming but this is still definitely a working farm and not just for show. Vineyard are tended and the crop certainly produces fantastically tasty red and white wines that we enjoyed with our evening meal - well ok a few glasses were drunk under the lush vine canopy in the afternoons too!
Luca’s blooms and gardens are delightful and reminiscent of an Italian renaissance painting with a pair of white peacocks wandering about.
Our room was clean, uncomplicated and comfortable, just what we needed for our stay.
We fell in love with Paul and Luca’s four VERY friendly dogs who entertained us almost as well as Paul’s stories and anecdotes did, we swam in the immaculate clean pool and all in all thoroughly unwound from our busy city lives. Tranquil Perfection.
We did on one of the days drive early in the morning for an hour and a half to Venice and used the pre booked parking in the Autoremissa city car park. It was such an easy way of spending the day in beautiful Venice, getting there super early, beating the crowds and being able to walk easily from the car park but still knowing we were using an approved route.
Local villages to the farm are wonderful and scenic and we also like the markets in Udine on Saturdays- a great recommendation from Paul!
There’s so much to do locally and our stay at La Faula was amazing we’ll definitely be returning, hopefully very soon!
The place is a perfect starting point for trips to beautiful historic cities in the area, but also allows for relaxed days at the pool enjoying the view on the scenic landscape.
Luca and Paul were excellent host. All the meals we had were very very delicious. The pool and the rooms were very clean all the time. Nelly made the trip very special 🐶
If you’re looking for a beautiful, relaxing and homey place to enjoy vacation… this is definitely the place!

La Faula is great for kids: a spacious garden envelopped by wineyards and lawns, a playground, the pools, a small soccer field, other kids to play with.
La Faula is a great place to start trips into the region. Udine is an appealing smaller university town with a historic downtown center. Cividale, a small town, is a UNESCO world heritage site. Other appealing destinations are around, as are beaches at Grado (specially suited for young children). And there is more: mountains, wineyards, excellent restaurants. Thank you very much, Luca and Paul, for a great week. We'll come again.
